Professor Chunhui Lu is a leading expert in water resources engineering at Hohai University, where he serves as Director of the State Key Laboratory of Water Disaster Prevention, Dean of College of Hydrology and Water Resources and Executive Vice-President of the Yangtze Institute for Conservation and Development.

His research encompasses integrated water systems, sustainable river basin development, and eco-hydrological restoration. A key focus of his work involves investigating groundwater flow and solute transport mechanisms, assessing impacts on groundwater resources, and developing strategies for sustainable use. This expertise is applied to major national projects, particularly concerning the Yangtze River and its tributaries.

Prof. Lu has co-authored over 200 peer-reviewed journal papers, with significant publications in prestigious journals such as Nature Climate Change, Water Resources Research, and Geophysical Research Letters. His contributions have been recognized with honours including IAHR's Arthur Thomas Ippen Award, the Flinders University Vice-Chancellor's Award for Early Career Researcher and a Fellowship from China's One Thousand Young Talents Program.

Prof. Lu actively contributes to the global scientific community as an Associate Editor for Water Resources Research and the Journal of Hydrology.
